And now for  …  FAMILY NEWS AND NOTES

Dear Brethren,
We are very grateful to be offered the work at North Jefferson!   We are very excited to get here, settle in and get busy with the work of the Gospel.  We look forward to placing our membership and worshipping with you next Sunday. Until that time, Lena and I will be packing and wrapping things up in San Angelo.  We’ve got a long haul and covet your prayers for our safety.  Grace and Peace.

Brotherly,
Kris Groda

Next week (February 8th) our new preacher Kris Groda will preach  his first sermon as our new preacher. Following the AM services we will have a pot-luck luncheon to welcome Kris and Lena , and the family … and for fellowship with one another.  This will be in the Multi-purpose room, of course.   Bring food …. I COULD be hungry by then.

Additionally … there will be a “Money Tree” to help Kris and Lena set up in their new home here and to help with other expenses.

Thanks to Royce Armstrong for teaching the Wednesday evening auditorium class.

The grandson of Lawanta Garner, Jerry Lynn Clark (and son of Gayla Sue Riley) passed away this past week. Funeral service was held at 4:00 PM Saturday at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Please keep this family in our prayers during this time of grief.

Nona Bell, long-time member of this congregation, passed away in Tyler on Wednesday. Her funeral was conducted at 2:00 PM Friday afternoon at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home with burial at Masonic Cemetery.

Winona Shankle (daughter of J. B. Brewster, deceased), who many in this congregation know and who once worshiped with us, fell last week.  She later had back surgery and is now getting around with a walker.  Keep Winona in your prayers.

Irene Duncan is still in the hospital as of Thursday PM for surgery to remove a kidney stone. She will remain in the hospital until the doctors get her feeling better.  The pain medicines have caused her to become confused and hyperactive.  She has also had pain in her left chest.  They took x-rays Friday afternoon and the report had not made it to the doctor by Thursday evening.  We are hoping that she don't have pneumonia.

Jan Hargrove was admitted to TRMC to ER with a possible stroke. At the printing of the bulletin no update on her condition.

Vernon and Ruth Garrett are both sick at home. Pray for their speedy recovery.

Dorothy Kyle is still scheduled for surgery at the Spine and Joint Clinic in Tyler on February 3rd in hopes of correcting or relieving the pain she has in several vertebras in the neck area.)  Pray to guide the hands of the surgeons and for her recovery.

Bro. Paul Unger, received a great report from his doctor this past Thursday. His test showed no signs of cancer.  This is an answer to our prayers.

Ronald Duncan, brother of Jim Duncan, had surgery last Tuesday . He is now at home.  He needs our prayers.

It was great to see some of those who have been sick in attendance to services this past week, ie: Elna O’Neal, Ron Traughber, Ercell Fetters, and many others.

Children’s Bible Hour was a great success last Sunday (the first of many that will be conducted on the last Sunday each month so Mom and Dad can have a noon meal alone. The children are taught Bible lessons and fed a small meal.

LADIES … all ladies of the congregation were invited to a monthly Ladies Devotional for a time of Bible Study, encouragement and friendship, at 7:00 PM Thursday evening, at the home of Vicki Miller. They had a devotional lesson, singing and snacks. Future dates will be announced.

TEACHERS AND ANYONE WANTING TO HELP WITH THE NEW CURRICULUM …Please meet after this morning’s services (February 01) for a work session.  Please bring a lunch. if you could not attend the meeting after services today for a work session you need to see Cathy Robison or Cindy Armstrong for questions.

Some of you remember Joey Davis, who we supported in the Memphis School of Preaching and who once preached here for us, who is now preaching at the Atlanta, Texas congregation.    Joey and his wife Pam are proud new parents.  Jadon Davis was born this past week.  He had some physical problems and is in children’s hospital at Medical City, Neonatel Section, in Dallas. Where he will have heart surgery.   Please pray for Jadon and for his mom and pop that all will go well with this new child.

Many thanks to Royce Armstrong who taught the Wednesday evening lesson. He did a wonderful job and it is hoped that everyone learning something from is presentation.

For others to keep in our prayers see the PRAYER LIST on the back page of the bulletin.
