Go To The Source

I am convinced God knows best, not 99% of the time, but 100% of the time. If we would do what God's Word tells us to do, in all circumstances of life, then I believe things would turn out like God wants them to every time.

It should provide great comfort for all of us to know, that every temptation we face in life, every trial we have to bear, and every problem we must solve has already been foreseen by God. Not only that, by God's foreknowledge of and provision for our earthly needs, He has included in His Holy Word every instruction we need, on how to deal with life's challenges. Yes, the strength to overcome every temptation, the power to bear all trials, and the solution to every problem can be found within the pages of the Bible, if we would just take the time to diligently search the Scriptures, believe what we read, and apply it correctly to our lives (John 5:39, Acts 17:11, II Tim. 2:15).

For instance, the Apostle Peter wrote, that through the knowledge of Jesus our Lord, all things have been granted unto us that pertain unto life and godliness (II Pet. 1:1-3). Not some things, but all things! Likewise the Apostle Paul stated, that the inspired Word of God contains everything necessary to make us perfect, or complete, and to prepare us for every good work (II Tim. 3:16-17). How else could God's Word promise that, "all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose" (Rms. 8:28), unless He has told us how to love Him, and has shared His purpose for our lives?

God, the Source of Life, the Creator of this universe and of all mankind, has not left us in the dark to flounder. Like David of old said, "His Word is a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our pathway" (Psa. 119:105). The Bible is the treasure house of the ages, the solution to every problem, the answer to every question, and the storehouse of true knowledge and wisdom. If we would simply let the Bible be our guide in every nook and cranny of life, the results would amaze us!

Do you have some problem in life that seems unanswerable? Why not go to Him who said, "Come unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not" (Jer. 33:3). Do you have a trial that seems too hard to bear? Why not lay that burden on Him who said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I wlll give you rest" (Mat. 11:28). Is there some temptation, which is about to overcome you? Why not seek the help of Him who said, "...but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape that ye may be able to bear it" (I Cor. 10:13).

Have you lost your way in life? If so, why not seek the Source of Life who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (Jn. 14:6). Yes, God knows best all of the time, and, Jesus told the truth when He said, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (Jn.8:32).

Important Matters
Johnny Ramsey

We always find time for what we deem important.  Nothing can keep us from zealously pursuing those matters near and dear to our hearts.  When I met the girl I intended to marry, it became easy to rearrange my schedule of time and money, lest anything distract me from my goal of hearing her say, "I do."  It even became possible to save twelve dollars to buy her a wedding band.  Fifty years ago, that was a lot of money.  I even spent 75 cents on a date to get these matters settled before her mind worked more clearly and someone else came along with a fifteen dollar ring!

Brethren who have the same 24-hour day we all possess do not deem it important enough to prioritize their time to include study of the Bible, prayer and regular assembly with the saints for worship.  Their contribution reflects more interest in sports, vacation, cars, houses and jewelry than the cause of Christ and the souls of men.

Never forget these powerful words: "Our collection is a reflection of our divine connection."  When we esteem spiritual matters above all else, we will be on the road toward success, happiness and peace. Someone has well spoken these valuable words:  "The poor man is not the one without a cent, but the one without a dream."  As we grow older, we will surely meet out destiny on the road we took to avoid it!

As we look back on our earthly pilgrimage, we will sadly ponder our misplaced priorities and be glad that we learned better, made adjustments and began to esteem more highly the everlasting truths that never fade.  We thank the Lord for being patient with us and giving us time (2 Peter 3:15) to find the pathway of productivity in the Vineyard of the Savior.  May we always deem the eternal values our highest emphasis in life.
