The Visitation Planning meeting Thursday evening was good. We had 18 present for planning, writing cards, fellowship and eating.

Deborah Biesemeyer has been in Titus Regional Hospital this past week. (Room 209) She has been diagnosed with cancer and tests are continuing.  Her doctors are trying to get her transferred so that surgery and treatment can begin. Meagan is staying with David and Janice.

Jerry Freeman is feeling better following his recent treatment for his medical problem. He was able to be at the mid-week service.

Elna O'Neal was transferred to Baylor in Dallas Wednesday where she was scheduled to undergo surgery on her right shoulder as a result of falling while leaving work last Monday evening. (She messed her shoulder up pretty bad.) The doctor who was going to do the surgery has delayed doing it until about next Wednesday.  He told the family that it would be better to wait until then.  In the meantime, Elna will be going to her daughter's home there in Dallas until the surgery is scheduled.

Vernon Garrett continues to improve at home following his recent heart surgery.

Beyond Our View
© By Grady L. Duncan
10/8/01

Beyond the drifting clouds,
beyond the stars so bright,
beyond the Sun and Moon,
somewhere beyond our sight,
beyond our last tomorrow,
beyond the reach of mortal Man,
beyond all grief and pain,
beyond the touch of Satan's hand,

Beyond the bounds of time,
beyond death and decay,
beyond the changing seasons,
beyond all night and day,
beyond the shining portals,
an alabaster city gleams,
is a city built by God,
beyond our wildest dreams.

Beyond words of description,
for there's nothing to compare.
It's beyond my comprehension,
that God would want me there.
Telescopes have searched the sky,
through night and through day,
still have failed to find it,
though it's just a breath away.

It's beauty is disclosed,
in God's most Holy Word.
It paints the prettiest picture,
that man has ever heard.
It's the eternal home,
for all of God's saved,
and it's waiting there,
just beyond the grave.

Heaven

1/26/04

Tell me again about Heaven.
Its telling never grows old.
Each time I hear of its beauty,
there's a beckoning deep in my soul.
This body will shine in its glory.
Neither sorrow nor pain will be there.
My burdens all will be lifted.
My cross I will no longer bear.

With no more tears in my eyes,
to cloud nor to blur my sight.
I shall view the beautiful city,
where there will never again be night.
Its walls are as pure Jasper.
Each gate is as one great pearl.
Man has never seen such beauty;
no, never in this present world.

A mansion will be my dwelling.
Its streets are of purest gold,
so pure it is clear as crystal.
Its beauty, in words, cannot be told.
In the midst of the beautiful city,
God will sit on His glorious throne.
I shall look on His face,
which before has never been shown.

From beneath His glorious throne,
the river of life ever flows.
On the banks of those beautiful waters,
the Tree of Life eternally grows.
The Nations of righteous will gather,
with the angels in their throngs,
to praise God in harmonious beauty,
with wonderful brand new songs.

Never again will I know darkness.
All evil will cease to be.
Satan will be chained in His torments,
throughout all of eternity.
Then will all creation,
know that God is Lord of all.
So tell me once more of God's promise,
the most beautiful story of all.

IMPACT
Johnny Ramsey
Let us notice several key points that Jesus contributes to our sojourn upon the earth (1 Peter 2:11) that we would otherwise be bereft of had He not come.

1.All Spiritual Blessings Ephesians 1:3
2.The New And Living WayHebrews 10:20
3.Our Perfect Example  Hebrews 4:15
4.Sin Clearly Defined  John 15:22
5.Salvation Absolutely  Hebrews 7:25
6.Satan Defeated  John 12:31-33
7.Heaven AccessibleHebrews 6:18-20
8.Sinners Made Saints  1 timothy 1:15
9.God's Grace In Us  1 Corinthians 15:10
10.Someone Who Never Leaves Us   Hebrews 13:5-6

When we weave all of this into one fabric of truth we realize that we surely do have "life more abundantly" as the Master taught in John 10:10.  The Psalmist makes a tremendous contribution to this life of thought in the cogent words of Psalm 124.

"If it had not been the Lord who was on our side our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth."

Living with, for and in Christ Jesus is truly what life is all about.  How vain would the struggles be if our Savior had not come.

Two centuries ago Thomas Gray wrote of folk with "obscure destiny in the short and simple annals of the poor."  Millions life and die that way  outside of the Savior  without hope in this world or the one to come (Ephesians 2:11-12).

Christians should praise God every single day for purpose, depth, richness and meaning in lives that bask in the sunlight found in the shadow of the Cross!
