Jim Duncan goes to see his doctor in Tyler this coming Thursday to see how to treat an anuerism he has. Jim can give you more details.
Ben McCain did OK when he swallowed a “camera capsule,” in Tyler last week. The very, very, small camera took photos every few seconds and transmitted them to a receiver. The doctor will review the photos later and surgery has been temporarily postponed while waiting for the results of the test (s).
Heard that Jon McCain was to be interviewed by Channel 7 News last weekend., with regards to his having the same name at Presidential Candidate John McCain. It was scheduled to appear either Friday nite of Saturday on the Channel 7 News. Did you see it?

Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offense, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes. Love does not come to an end.

Portions in this Life
Floyd Kaiser
[Guest article from The Southwesterner—Southwest church of Christ—Ada, OK]
In Psalms 17:13, 14, it is written “Arise, O LORD, confront him, bring him low; deliver my soul from the wicked with Your sword, from men with Your hand, O LORD, from men of the world, whose portion is in this life, and whose belly You fill with Your treasure; they are satisfied with children, and leave their abundance to their babes.”
This text is about the wicked people among whom we are daily forced to live. These are ones whom we witness as making no effort to please God in their choices of lifestyle. They cheat. They lie. They get high and drunk. They are even dangerous to decent people. At times we feel just like David who wrote this Psalm, we pray to God for deliverance because they sorely vex our spirits.
However as a comfort to himself and to those who read this Psalm for every generation of godly people to come, David makes three declarations about the wicked.
Their portion is only in this life. All they have is in this world. Their ownership does not extend any farther. Job announced this reality when he said, “naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I shall return there” (Job 1:21). In the New Testament it is written, “For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either” (1 Tim. 6:7). There are no moving vans unloading at cemeteries. There are no trailer hitches for hearses. For the lost, there is no eternal inheritance like there is for the saved (Heb. 9:15). Death is the bitter end of all they enjoyed.
Their portion in this life might be considerable. As unjust as this might seem to the saved, with God’s blessings the wicked will sometimes fair quite well. In Psalms 73, Asaph was disturbed when he witnessed the prosperity of the wicked. He said, “For there are no pains in their death; and their body is fat. They are not in trouble as other men; nor are they plagued like mankind” (verses 4, 5). Why this is the case that so many of the wicked prosper, I don’t know. It could relate to God wanting men to serve Him out of love rather than what they might gain materially. Also, it could also be that the wicked are not restricted as to how they amass wealth; not being respecters of God’s laws frees them to do anything to acquire more.
Their abundance will be left to others. The bank accounts, investments, houses, cars and everything material will be left behind. The Psalmist says that they will “leave their abundance to their babes.” I have seen houses and businesses meticulously cared for while owners lived, only to fall into almost immediate ruin when death turned their care to the next generation.
In Psalms 73:16-18 it is written, “ … it was troublesome in my sight until I came into the sanctuary of God; then I perceived their end. Surely Thou dost set them in slippery places; Thou dost cast them down to destruction.” As long as we only see the lives of the lost with material sight, we will be frustrated at how well so many do. However, what we need is to come into the presence of God and see with spiritual sight. Only then will we understand their end. Only then will be know that walking with God is our solitary and unfailing hope of tomorrow.
