Last Wednesday evening, Lee Moses advised us that his dad John Moses, was in the hospital in El Paso suffering from pneumonia. He is not getting any better and Lee asked that we place him on our prayer list.
R.C. Grissom has not been feeling well and his doctor increased his medication. It seems to be helping a little.
Many thanks to those who helped Lee and Kelley load up Thursday. Sadly the truck broke down a few miles out of town. Lee was waiting on a U-Haul mechanic to come at last report around 9:30 PM Thursday nite. Some "adventure" in moving." The person responsible for the U-Haul slogan was either an optimist or a sadist. Anyway, it is assumed they made it to their destination without further incident. Their new address is shown below:

FOREVER
Forever - it can be one of the most beautiful or one of the most horrible words in the English language depending on its context. The word, "forever" can bring joy to our hearts when we think about living forever with God. However, it can fill us with fear to the very core of our being when we consider the possibility of dying forever in hell. To me the greatest drawing power of heaven as well as the most frightening concept of hell is contained in the word "forever."
One of the things that excites me about heaven is that it's an eternal place. That quality of lastingness appeals to me. Material things in this life break down and are constantly in need of repair. Friends move away. Loved ones die and leave us alone. There is no permanence; there is no "forever" in this life. But, ah, heaven is a different story. There will be no breakdowns in heaven. There will be no moving away. There will be no more death, for heaven is forever.
Really, the word forever is a paradoxical word, for just as surely as it has a very appealing nature with regard to heaven, it has a most repulsive nature with regard to hell. The thing that causes me to fear hell the most is that it is everlasting. The pain, the punishment, the torment of hell will have no end in sight. Hell will be a hapless and hopeless place with no hint of escape or relief, because it is "forever."
Everlasting peace, or everlasting punishment, which is your eternal destiny? The choice is yours. It has not been left to another to decide for you, nor can anyone else force your decision. Jesus has made it possible for you to escape the torment of hell and gain the treasures of heaven, but ultimately this monumental decision rests with you, concerning the eternal destiny of your immortal soul and spirit.
Very soon, in the overall course of affairs, we will all face death and the Judgment to follow (Heb. 9:27). As the beautiful and thought-provoking song, by Tillit S. Teddlie reminds us, "Swiftly we're turning life's daily pages, swiftly the hours are changing to years; how are we using God's golden moments? Shall we reap glory? Shall we reap tears?"
Eternity is an awfully long time compared to the brevity of earthly life. However, we have only the present to determine our future, for Jesus said, "And these (the unprepared) shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous (the prepared) into eternal life" (Mt. 25:46).
Right now, if the Lord were to come back, what would be your eternal destiny? Where and what will your forever be? Heaven, or hell? Laughter, or loss? Hope, or hopelessness? Joy with Jesus, or sadness with Satan? May God help us to prepare for "forever" TODAY!

That Little Extra Effort
(Guest Article from Glad Tidings Good Tidings)
The difference between success and failure is often determined by the willingness to put forth that "little extra effort." In many areas putting forth that "little extra effort" makes the difference between a good church and a really great church.
That "little extra effort" gets us to Bible class as well as worship on the morning of the Lord's Day.
That "little extra effort" brings us back to the evening worship on the Lord's Day.
That "little extra effort" causes us to spend more time in private study of God's Word.
That "little extra effort" reminds us to frequently claim the privilege of prayer.
That "little extra effort" helps us to be more sacrificial in our giving as measured by our prosperity instead of the attitude that says give as little as possible.
That "little extra effort" keeps us at our home congregation except in cases of necessity.
That "little extra effort" leads us into a compassionate concern for the lost and wayward, and reminds us to speak to them about their spiritual condition.
That "little extra effort" helps us engage wholeheartedly and attentively in all phases of worship.
That "little extra effort" involves us in every activity of the work of the local church.
Of course, there is that "little extra" that we must avoid even very small things which add to, take from, or in any way violate God's Word (Revelation 21:18,19). His Word alone will do its effective work when it is followed as God's only revelation to man. It is the sole guide to our soul's salvation.
(2 Timothy 3:16,17).
Beloved, let us diligently apply ourselves to give that "little extra" and make the Lord's church the really great church the Lord deserves.
"And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain." Matthew 5:41
